The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may get a new national president before the announcement of the Bihar elections, according to party sources. The selection process is set to restart after the vice president election on the 9th. The procedure requires the election of state presidents in UP, Gujarat, and Karnataka first. The Prime Minister must be elected to the National Council from UP and the Home Minister from Gujarat before they can become proposers for the national president's nomination papers. If a new president is not selected by the end of September, the election will likely be deferred until after the Bihar assembly election results. The announcement for the Bihar polls could come in the last week of September or the first week of October.
