1:45 - Yep, typo. Completely missed that when pre-watching the video. After originally being due to open in 2021, the new Direct Air-Rail Transit began taking passengers (albeit just for four hours a day) from the 10th March 2023. This video was recorded the following day on the second day of passenger service. It is expected to commence 24 hour operations three weeks later, however no date had been announced so far. This video is a fairly short presentation of the system including a return journey on the trains. As this video was recorded near the start of the days service it was quite empty, so it will be interesting to see the passenger loadings when full service commences, as the shuttle bus is almost always full and standing. Something however I intentionally didn't mention in the video is costs. When the system fully opens, a single journey will cost £4.90. This makes it one of the most expensive train journeys per mile (£3.50 per mile). However, until it opens fully it costs £2.40 per trip, the same as the shuttle bus fare. Currently to travel on the DART you either have to buy a train ticket to/from Luton Airport, or buy a DART-only ticket online which provides you with a QR code. I'm led to believe ticket machines for this are coming soon, though I can't say I really looked properly. Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro 0:26 - Terminal DART Station 1:33 - Journey from Airport to Parkway 4:55 - Parkway DART Station 6:01 - Journey from Parkway to Airport 9:27 - Return to Terminal DART Station General Channel Note - Just want to apologise for the very small amount of videos over the past year. I now work full time on buses (part of which includes driving them) which naturally means I've moved away from spotting etc. I also now only want to upload at least slightly decent and informative videos rather than 15 minutes of a seat (hence why most of my 'onboard' videos are now unlisted). I won't be ditching the channel but there will generally be less videos uploaded than there once was.
