The ZWO AM5N is a substantial improvement over the original AM5 (which is still an excellent mount)! The mount can now hold 33-lbs (15-kg) without a counterweight and 44-lbs (20-kg) with a counterweight. You would think that placing a lot of weight on an unbalanced mount would cause guiding issues, but this is where the AM5N shines - the auto-guiding performance is absolutely incredible! With a fully loaded Celestron RASA8, guide-scope and ASI178MM guide-camera, I average about 0.25-0.30" night in and night out. Simply amazing performance. Additionally, the mount only weights 12-lbs (5.5-kg) and is incredibly portable compared to a typical GEM mount. The AM5N not only outperforms all my GEM's, but it is lighter and easier to use. What's not to like!? Note: In the video I mention that the output of the saddle is limited to 3 amps, as that is what is printed on the mount. ZWO has sent me an email and let me know the saddle supports 5 amps of current. The 3 amps they claim is what is required for the input, but the output maximum for the saddle is 5 amps.
