Green cave is located near Vis, on the island of Ravnik. The name originates from a greenish glow of the sea as a result of a combination of light and multitude of green algae at the bottom of the cave. Due to its geomorphological features, this area was declared a protected area of ​​Croatia. The cave is situated in front of the bay Rukavac and it has two sea entrances and an opening at the top of the ceiling that lets the light through. The combination of the seabed and light entering through the cracks make the cave seem green. On the front of the cave you will find a massive stone pillar that separates the front of the cave into two parts by making two big holes that once upon a time sheltered small warships, and is still accessible by motor boats. Swimming and diving, is allowed in the cave, with dives up to 30 meters in front of the cave and up to 7 meters in the cave. The underwater world of the cave is very interesting due to unusual geological formations, and its entrance is richly populated with algae and sponges that provide shelter for flocks of larger and smaller fish.
