In this video I build Tamiya’s 1/35 French Leclerc, which is something a little different for the channel. Most of the time I’m building WWII armor like Tigers, Panthers, and Jagdpanthers, but this one came from a bundle I found on Facebook Marketplace and for the price it was too good to pass up. The kit itself was actually a really enjoyable build. Like most Tamiya kits, everything went together smoothly and the whole model could probably be finished in one evening if you really pushed it. I spread the build out over a few sessions at the bench, which is probably a good thing since us older modelers need to schedule a nap now and then. Even though this isn’t a subject I normally build, it was a nice change of pace from German armor. The Leclerc has a very different look compared to WWII tanks, with smooth armor panels and a modern design that makes for a quick and relaxing build. The model will be painted in a sand and NATO green scheme with some light weathering since modern tanks usually don’t show the heavy wear we see on WWII vehicles unless they’ve been in combat. Next up on the bench will likely be the Jagdpanther from that same bundle, and with a new 3D printer on the way I may even experiment with some printed stowage or extra parts for that build.
