This was my 1st day in Uganda, and within hours, I started questioning my life choices. In this video, I share my honest first impression of Uganda, starting in downtown Kampala, walking through Central Taxi Park, crowded textile markets, and some of the busiest streets I’ve ever experienced. As a Muzungu and a foreigner navigating downtown Kampala for the first time, the chaos hit fast, and it only got more intense. At one point, everything suddenly stopped in the middle of traffic. The entire city froze. That was just the beginning. From high-energy wholesale markets in downtown Kampala where cameras aren’t exactly welcome, to moments that felt surreal for a foreigner on his 1st day in Uganda, this first impression kept escalating in ways I didn’t expect. And then, just when I thought I understood life in downtown Kampala, the city completely changed: Modern malls and International restaurants. In other words, a side of Kampala most people don’t show. If you’ve ever wondered what a real first day in Uganda looks like for a Muzungu or foreigner, this is my raw first impression of Kampala.
