One Of The Prettiest Cycling Trails You've Never Heard Of

We begin this episode in the town of Bingen, on the southern end of the Rhine Gorge. Our route today will carry us through Wiesbaden and Mainz, where my mother grew up and we share some of her war stories before we leave the Rhine River and begin to follow the Main River toward Frankfurt, where we stay at a hotel near the airport. Two days of cold wind and rain frustrate our progress, and we eventually cycle to the train station for a short ride out of the airport zone, through the urban mess of Frankfurt and into a nicer town. We awake to blue skies and perfect riding conditions, following the lovely Main River Radweg into the pastoral countryside of Germany. We make it to Dorfprozelten, a small village on the river, where we find a lovely guesthouse and hunker down for another couple of days of very cold rain.
