In this video, I'm copper electroplating a metal stapler, but instead of submerging it in a copper plating solution, I'm going to brush the copper ions onto the metal surface. I'm using a cotton ball and copper wire to do so. I've made a copper sulfate solution using some copper wires and household items such as baking soda and table salt in the past (the link is down below, go check it out). For the copper plating process, I'm using a 6V DC power supply because the object is quite large. but for smaller pieces, you can use a DIY phone charger and USB cable as a power supply. electroplating Not only protects metal from rust, but it also adds a unique character to your parts.
