2026 Arts Awards Winners: Joseph Squillante

While his portfolio includes portraiture, still life, and abstraction, he is best known for his creative work capturing the beauty and challenges of the Hudson River for more than 50 years. Through his romantic landscapes, evocative images, and visual storytelling, Joseph raises awareness of the Hudson’s magnificence and collaborates with leading environmental organizations, including Riverkeeper, Scenic Hudson, and Clearwater. Together with his wife, Carol Capobianco, Joseph founded the Hudson River School of Photography, fostering a love for the Hudson through exhibitions, workshops, presentations, and fine art prints and note cards. His photographs are in the permanent collections of such notable institutions as the New-York Historical, Museum of the City of New York, Albany Institute of History and Art, the New York State Museum, and the Hudson River Museum. A teaching artist with ArtsWestchester, Joseph is also a Life Member of the American Society of Media Photographers and serves on the board of directors of the Peekskill Herald.
