A friend of mine (Ed:    / edwardrink85  ) did the liquid light show and I filmed and edited it. He does it with an overhead projector without any paper on it, a projection screen (of course) and an undeep bowl of fluid. In the bowl you can put plain water and add colorants, oils and all sorts of things like that. The projector will emit light through that bowl of pretty colors, through the lens on top and project it onto the projection screen. I simply filmed the projection screen with my EOS camera :).
