In this video, I reveal one of the most powerful and most misunderstood exercises of the Old School of Singing®. The glottal strike (colpo di glottide), coming from the Arturo Melocchi school, is a direct way to train the arytenoid muscles, the true muscles behind vocal cord closure and strength. While most people speak about “muscular singing,” few actually explain which muscles matter and how to strength them. The arytenoids control precision, closure, and tension of the vocal cords, essential for producing a metallic, resonant, and powerful sound that carries through low, middle, and high registers without losing brilliance. This exercise is not the full technique, it is only one part of a larger system that includes opening the throat, lowering the larynx, and creating maximum resonance. But it is a key to unlocking vocal power, squillo, and endurance. Discover how the great voices of the past trained their instruments and why this old method, once feared, is actually the secret to vocal strength.
