Posted this to people who may be interested in rehabbing an older flatbed scanner. The ccfl bulbs can be found on fleaby or alibaba. This is not meant to be a complete how to video. Many times if not all the time the top glass should stay in place and does not need to be removed. Other things to be checked are a failing power supply or a wobbly "B" type connector in the back of the unit. Rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip was used to clean the mirrors. You may find a less aggresive lens cleaner but just a small amount goes a long way. Just don't oversaturate the mirror or lens. Noticed that these flatbed scanners come in handy from time to time and seem to be coming back into use. Prices even on older ones appear to be gong up. Perhaps you can get an older one going again instead of sending it to the landfill. Good luck!
