Where to get the Zhiyun Crane: Ireland: https://www.camera.ie/ https://camerakit.ie/ UK: https://www.wexphotovideo.com/ https://www.parkcameras.com/ https://cvp.com/ https://www.proav.co.uk/ https://www.cinegearpro.co.uk/ USA: https://amzn.to/3461dyz The Zhiyun Crane 3s is a high-payload single handed (kinda) gimbal that's ideal for heavier camera setups in which you need a a lot of clearance for the camera to operate. If you intend on shooting with heavier cameras, rigged cameras or mirrorless type cameras with telephoto lenses then this gimbal is ideal. If you only shoot with small light cameras then the Zhiyun Crane 3s is probably overkill. Instead, get yourself a Weebil. The build quality is decent with the upper metal parts of the gimbal which has the motors being solid and rather slick looking. The lower 'control' parts such as the 45º handle and buttons aren't as good quality. They work fine and are functional but not as nice as what would appear on say a DJI product. Ergonomically, out oif the box, the Crane 3S is a bit of a handful and isn't the easiest gimbal to pick up off the ground. You can buy a handle that makes it easier. That said, it's one of the nicest gimbals to use in low / briefcase mode in which you could shoot all day when it's like that. You can get extra accessories for the gimbal like handles and follow focus but for now I just used the bare camera. I prefer to control the camera on it's own and I don't usually like using focus wheels on gimbals so I didn't do any advanced operation as of yet. As far as I know, you can control the camera fairly well with it. The app is handy to have but in my opinion it needs a bit of refining by Zhiyun, it's not overly concise. I originally received a Crane S3 from my Zhiyun dealer to review back in the early part of the summer and I had slight problems with it as it appeared to have shake. Because it was one of the first models off the assembly line, I assumed that it was either faulty or had an issue with firmware or something. But sadly, I had actually shot a lot with it without looking back at the footage (lesson learned!). Some of the shots are from this version of the gimbal. Then a few weeks later I was sent another 'working' unit and this fortunately was working much better. Though the footage is steady, I will say, it's still not giving me fully satisfyingly smooth results. I am a sucker for smoothness! I would recommend the Zhiyun Crane 3s for anyone looking to fly bigger heavier cameras but if you're a mirrorless camera shooter who uses smaller wider lenses, then a more compact, lighter gimbal would probably be handier. I hope you liked the video, it's a bit longer than planned but please like and share and feel free to drop in a comment which I may just reply to! H
