Tommy Crook is one of Tulsa, Oklahoma's most respected guitarists. Born in 1944, Tommy had been in bands with David Gates and Leon Russell in the late 1950 - early 60s. From his 2002 CD titled 110○ In The Shade, here is "Caravan," written by Juan Tizol and Duke Ellington in 1936. Tommy had a uniqueness to his playing, attributed to tuning the two bottom strings on his 1957 Gibson Switchmaster an octave lower than standard. Tommy said this was in essence, him playing a four-string guitar and a bass at the same time. His accompanist, Anthony Weller, is playing 200 Hofner Jazzica Custom guitar. Tommy is in the left channel and Anthony is in the right.
