@ManishFrenchStudio 🎬 *Welcome to Manish French Studio!* 🎶 Madan Mohan with Asha Bhosle Madan Mohan Kohli was born on 25 th June 1924 in Baghdad where his father Chunnilal worked as an Accountant General with Iraq Police. The family moved back to their home town Chakwal in Jhelum district of Punjab, now in Pakistan, in 1932. In 1943, Madan Mohan joined the army as a Second Lieutenant, which he left after the second world war. In 1946, he joined All India Radio as Programme Assistant. Here he received the opportunity to meet acclaimed classical music singers and instrumentalists like Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Begum Akhtar, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and ghazal singer Talat Mahmood, later a well-known playback singer too. In 1948, he moved to Bombay and assisted two music composers - Sachin Dev Burman and Shyam Sundar for the next two years. Getting his break with film ‘Ankhen’ in 1950 as an independent music director, Madan Mohan continued to delight fans across the globe with his memorable numbers in the voices of Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Mohammad Rafi, Manna Dey, Mukesh and Talat Mahmood for the next 25 years. His compositions had a strong classical base with a variety of ragas. Asha Bhosle, can arguably be clubbed as one of the three best female playback singers of Hindi film industry, the other two being Geeta Dutt and Lata Mangeshkar. She was born on 8 th September 1933 in Sangli, Maharashtra. Her father Deenanath Mangeshkar was a well-known classical music singer and actor on stage. She lost her father at the tender age of 9. All her siblings including sisters, Lata Mangeshkar, Meena Khadilkar and Usha Mangeshkar and brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar have made their mark in the field of music. Asha Bhosle has displayed her unparalleled talent in being able to excel in all genres of songs. Madan Mohan, whose obvious choice was Lata, continued to offer some difficult numbers to Asha, which needed special skills, like voice jugglery for prelude to song ‘Shokh nazar ki bijlian’. Asha Bhosle at 91 still holds stage shows, though her voice has understandably lost some of its vigour at this advanced age. Despite having been the most versatile singer in the last half a century, the highest civilian award ‘Bharat Ratna’ still eludes her.
