Take a look inside the refreshed EYFS outdoor learning environment at Wesley Methodist Primary School, where early years playground design, creative play equipment and high-quality school playground surfacing have come together to create a space children love to explore. What began as a simple request to refresh playground markings soon evolved into a full EYFS playground transformation. Working closely with the school’s Business Manager and Headteacher, our Outdoor Learning Consultant helped reimagine the space — making the most of existing artificial grass surfacing, working within budget, and delivering the project within the school year. In this video, you’ll see: A balanced EYFS outdoor play area designed to support learning and development Nursery and Reception playgrounds tailored to different age groups Creative playground surfacing using artificial grass and colourful Funturf graphics Mud kitchens, imaginative play zones and outdoor storytelling spaces Physical play equipment that supports balance, coordination and confidence A safe, engaging school playground design that encourages exploration and independence From mud play and imaginative role play to climbing, balancing and performance, the new playground supports a wide range of early years outdoor learning opportunities — all while feeling welcoming, purposeful and fun. Designed for learning. Built to last. Loved by children. If you’re looking for EYFS playground ideas, nursery playground inspiration or guidance on creating a high-quality early years outdoor learning environment, this project shows how small ideas can grow into something truly impactful.
