Baiyu Mountain (白玉山) is located in Lüshunkou District, Dalian, Liaoning, China. Rising to an altitude of 130 meters, it sits near the center of the urban area. One of its main attractions is the Baiyu Mountain Tower at the summit, built in 1909 by the Japanese after the Russo-Japanese War. Another highlight is the panoramic view of the naval port at the foot of the mountain. Although the surrounding area is relatively small, its favorable geographic conditions as a naval base have made it rich in modern history from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. In less than 200 years, it experienced occupations by the Russian Empire, Japan, and the USSR, and witnessed many harsh conflicts among these powers, with China striving to defend its own territory. In 1955, the naval base and its surrounding area were finally returned to China from the USSR - 10 years after Japan's surrender in World War II and 6 years after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
