India wins recurve gold at Asian Archery Championships

Indian archer Ankita Bhakat delivered a sensational performance to win the women’s recurve gold medal at the Asian Archery Championships in Dhaka, defeating Paris Olympics silver-medallist Nam Su-hyeon of South Korea by 7–3 in a five-set final. Reports said Bhakat showcased exceptional control, precision and mental toughness throughout the contest. In the opening set, Bhakat shot two perfect 10s to secure a 29–27 lead. The second set ended 27–27, but Nam responded strongly with a 28–26 win in the third, levelling the match. Bhakat bounced back with a 29–28 score in the fourth set and sealed the gold medal with another pair of 10s in the deciding set. Officials noted that Bhakat’s path to the final included a dramatic semi-final win over veteran Indian archer Deepika Kumari, where she edged through after a 5–5 tie and a tense shoot-off.
