Turns out after a bat expert saw the video that it is not a common pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) but a soprano pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus). As volunteer of my local bat conservation group (Arbeitsgemeinschaft Fledermausschutz Baden-Württemberg e.V. , www. agf-bw.de) I took care of a baby bat during the summer of 2021. Doing this video was part of recording the experience, to help me learn more from it, as well as sharing it with others. Bats are amazing animals and many species are in danger of extinction. Taking care of and releasing single individual bats most likely doesn’t contribute to the conservation of the species, but is understandable from an ethical standpoint. I’ve put together a list of resources (in English and available online) on the topic of caring for baby insectivorous bats: https://rebrand.ly/Resources-on-raisi... I hope you enjoyed the video. Feel free to contact me, should you have any suggestions or questions —I’m by no mean an expert on the topic, but I’m glad to help.
