Sacromonte | Sacromonte Caves | Andalusia | Andalusia Spain | Andalucia | Visit Spain Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte or with its English name Sacromonte Caves Museum is the place to understand the history, culture and nature of Granada, Spain. Actually, Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte is not a regular museum with a building and full of artworks or heritage. This museum is a house of man-made caves with a history of more than 100 years. By visiting the museum you will understand the living of the people more than a century ago. How do they cook their food? What did they drink? That will be a different experience for you. You can also learn about the origins of flamenco here, in the Sacromonte. Granada is a gypsy region of Spain. So these caves reflect the gypsy life from the past. Visiting the museum is a really good chance to discover the way of life through the gypsies, houses, cuisine. A part of the museum is dedicated to Nature, offering information about the flora, fauna, climate, landscape and agriculture of the area. There are many cultural activities and events taking place here during the year: guided tours (only in Spanish), walking tours in the area, flamenco live shows and summer cinema. Check the program before your visit. The Sacromonte Caves Museum is located in the Barranco de Los Negros, in the Sacromonte district, and it offers stunning views of the Alhambra and the Darro Valley (Valparaiso). It is very close to the historic Albaicín district, World Heritage site. How to get to the museum You can reach the Sacromonte Museum on bus C34, leaving from Plaza Isabel Católica (near the Cathedral) and get off at 'Sacromonte 2'. Or you can take bus C1 which goes to Albaicin, get off at 'Peso de la Harina' and walk a little, stunning views are worth the effort. Address: Barranco de los Negros s/n, 18010 Granada, Spain. The museum is open from 10.00 to 20.00 every day between 15th March to 14th of October. During the winter seasons, opening hours change from 10.00 to 18.00 between 15th October to 14th March. There is no limitation on the duration of the visit. You can stay as long as you want but generally, the tour will take mostly no more than one hour. So, it will be a good stop before or after you visit the Alhambra Palace. ------ Learn more about what you can experience traveling in Northern Ireland, Ireland & the rest of the world by visiting our website https://www.connollycove.com/ --- We are Connolly Cove.
