I have been battling with TOS since 1994 with onset of my first obvious symptoms, threw an effort thrombosis to my left subclavian vein and was put on warfarin in June 2001 (no thrombolysis suggested), clotted while on warfarin in my right subclavian vein in Nov 2001 with no precipitating incident. Finally did my own MedLine research and correlated my issues with TOS and knew I needed a n MRI w/venogram. My treating physician wanted me to "come off of warfarin (without a diagnosis)" even in the face of my articles. So I flew back home and forced another sympathetic doctor to order the imaging. Turns out I was 85%+ occluded on both sides with my arms at my sides. Got referred to Mass General Hospital in Boston in 2002 and had no choice, but to have the first ribs removed to prevent further clotting and get me off of warfarin. This lasted 12 years until I reclotted on the scarred left side and was put back on warfarin. After my family paased away in two years time, I was forced to move to Wisconsin from Chicago. I struggled to find doctors familiar with TOS and after a time found a team willing to work with me. Dr. "CJ" Lee and Dr. Heib at Froedtert Medical Center and the Wisconsin School of Medicine decided to attempt an angioplasty on my scarred left subclavian vein. This is the third attempt. Post-op video to follow... Better and more explanatory. I've had to become my own advocate over the years and have become something of a lay expert on TOS myself to help myself and people in several online facebook support groups.
