BIALOWIEZA IN WINTER by Arturo de Frias

BIALOWIEZA FOREST is a remote forest in Eastern Europe. It is one of the last and largest examples of the immense primeval forest that once covered Europe. It is the only habitat where European Bison still roam, wild and free. The European Bison is Europe´s largest land mammal: these huge ruminants can weigh up to 1,000 kilos. Another landmark species in Bialowieza is the White-tailed Sea Eagle, a close relative of the American Bald Eagle. It is one of the largest eagles in the world, with a wingspan of 2.5m, and a weight of up to 7kg. A White-tailed Eagle in flight is a truly imposing sight. I hope you will enjoy this collection of images, from my recent trip to Bialowieza, one of Europe's oldest wild places, in February 2018.
