Hi! Welcome to Geotechnical Modelling, a series of videos eponymous of the Masters-level module taught by Professor Glenn McDowell, Dr Alec Marshall and Dr Charles Heron at the University of Nottingham, Department of Civil Engineering. In this video we look at checking the level of saturation in our triaxial sample. The Saturation Check stage in the Triaxial Testing Standard (BS EN ISO 17892-9:2018) is also known as a B-check, in reference to the B-value calculated when dividing the change in pore water pressure by the change in isotropic stress. This video shows you the steps required to complete a B-check, and also discusses some of the nuances involved in checking saturation.
