A special thanks to Ankur Bhavsar for making us another incredible video! Epsilon Chapter of Sigma Sigma Rho at UGA will be hosting its FOURTH annual Heel the Soul Walk on Saturday, March 19th, 2016. This is an annual event which promotes awareness for our philanthropy, Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention. We will be supporting our cause by not only raising awareness but also fundraising and donating to local women's shelters- Athens Peace Place and Project Safe. The “Heel the Soul Walk” is a unique event that is open to the public. Participants are encouraged to complete the walk in high heels, which symbolizes the painful shoes an abused victim walks in each day of their life. Our walk includes many activities besides the walk itself including a Pie Eating Contest and a Talent Show- ALL profits will benefit Project Safe and Peace Place, Inc. This year, Heel the Soul presents the Riley Edition. Follow us on social media to learn more about Riley – a character we have created to reveal the truths about domestic violence in our community. Follow Riley’s story and find out the every day issues that come along with being a victim of domestic abuse. Our Sisters here at Sigma Sigma Rho Inc. hope that this will open many eyes as to the variety of different types of domestic abuse that exist in our society. Being a victim of abuse does not just stop with women – domestic violence refers to any sort of abuse (whether that be physical or mental) to men, children, and women in a home setting.
