Majestic Princess Arrives in Trieste, IT

I was fortunate to witness the arrival of the Majestic Princess on her maiden voyage from Monfalcone, IT to Rome. She's an impressive ship at 1,082' with a beam of 126', and a bridge clearance of 224'. With 3,560 berths and a crew of 1,346 to take care of her guests, she weighs in at an awesome 143,700 gross tons. Her keel alone is 500GT. Built by Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani, her price tag came in just under 1 Billion Dollars! A very cool and first of a kind feature is the seawalk that is 60' long and is cantilevered 128' above the sea, and extends 28' from the side of the ship. She cruises at 18 knots and has a WOT of 22k and is propelled by twin 18,000kW electric engines turning out 24,000 HP each! Her port of call will be Shanghai. Another great Shipyard, and one that I am proud to represent, is located right up the street from Fincantieri, Monte Carlo Yachts. Gotta love the Love Boat theme coming from her massive horns!
