Divided into scenes, only a portion of it remains preserved. It tells the story of a miserly old man named Scrooge - played by actor Daniel Smith - who mistreats his assistant Bob Cratchitt by kicking him out of his house. When he leaves, Marley’s ghost haunts him at the entrance to his house and then appears to him in dreams, showing him what his past Christmases were like, what Christmas is like at the homes of his acquaintances, with everyone toasting him and thus showing him his ingratitude, and then showing him a possible Christmas in the future.
