Have you already heard of the most spectacular glacier descent in Austria? The Wilde Grub'n on the Stubai Glacier is not for the faint of heart! From over 3,200 meters above sea level, it descends through high alpine terrain into the valley with unprepared sections and breathtaking views. *Advertisement ▶ Enter the competition: Win a short break at the Explorer Hotels (2 nights including breakfast for 2 people in a double room). All you have to do is tell me who you'd like to hit the slopes with again. Comment your ski buddy under this post: / dhae7i6mtlj Good luck! Our adventure in the beautiful Stubai Valley begins early this morning. We stayed overnight in the brand-new Explorer Hotel, which offers spectacular views of the mountains through its panoramic windows. After a hearty breakfast, we head straight to the ski area, and today a dream day awaits us: fresh powder snow, blue skies, and perfect conditions. The Eisgratbahn cable car takes us to an altitude of almost 2,900 meters. It's Felix's favorite gondola because it looks like a spaceship. Even during the ride, we can see the Wilde Grub'n from above. Our anticipation (and respect) grows ever greater. But first, our eyes need to get used to the sun and our legs to the movement. So, we warm up on the groomed slopes. The snow is perfect today. Grippy, soft, and simply a dream for carving. Before we really get going, we make a detour to the "Top of Tyrol" summit platform. We climb a few meters up an iron staircase. Not so easy in ski boots. And especially strenuous at this altitude. But it's worth it. Here, at an altitude of 3,210 meters, we have a wonderful 360° view of the snow-capped mountains, including the Zuckerhütl, all the way to South Tyrol, the Rosengarten and Latemar, and the Wildspitze in the Ötztal Alps. An absolute recommendation for anyone visiting the Stubai Glacier! Afterward, we treat ourselves to a break at the Schaufelspitz restaurant for refreshments. The menu features delicious dishes such as beef tartar, steaks, burgers, and, of course, Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancakes). My favorite: the avocado bowl with mango and alpine prawns. I'd definitely order that again next time. And then things get serious. We head back up to tackle the Wilde Grub'n. A nostalgic two-seater chairlift takes us up to the highest point. On windy, cloudy days, these meters in the drafty chairlift can sometimes get really icy cold. But afterward, you can warm up again. So, let's go. The start is relaxed: wide, perfectly groomed glacier slopes, on which we glide down into the valley with long turns. With every turn, small and large clouds of snow form. And enjoying the scenery is simply fantastic. You can even do some serious carving here. From the large sign indicating the Wilde Grub'n, things get challenging: The ski route is unprepared! Moguls, powder hills, and steep sections make this descent so unique. Beginners should definitely consider whether they're up to it. However, it's usually possible to bypass the key sections. The final stretch is pure enjoyment. An idyllic route through snow-covered trees, past a small stream that glitters alongside the piste. The perfect reward after this wild ride. Back at the hotel, the non-alcoholic drink is more than deserved! If you enjoyed the video, we'd appreciate a thumbs up. And remember to subscribe so you don't miss anything. Thanks for watching!
