Happy February 17th, the Independence Day of Kosovo. EaglesLand Albanian Cultural Society of BC organized a grand celebration on the occasion of the Independence of the Republic of Kosovo. The event was hosted by Ertiola Ademi, who opened the evening with the national anthems and continued by presenting the artistic program themed “Freedom Has a Name – UÇK,” masterfully directed by Viola Caushi and passionately performed by talented members of our association. The guest of honor at this ceremony was Mr. Kadri Dakaj, Consul General of the Republic of Kosovo in Toronto. Additionally, Her Excellency Ms. Artemis Malo, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, sent a congratulatory message in honor of Independence Day. The Flag Cake, a symbol of our celebrations, expertly prepared by Viola, was cut by a former UÇK soldier—today a father—and his son, symbolizing the new generation raised with the stories of the war. The celebration continued in a warm atmosphere to the rhythms of singers Aferdita Demaku and Gazi Musliu. At the end of the evening, the star of our community, Ertiola Ademi—a very talented young woman with a beautiful voice—performed a repertoire of songs that filled the hall with applause.
