2025 Webinar - Beyond Secure Elements: Security Aspects of Digital Cash (G+D)

Dr. Lars Hupel, Chief Evangelist (CBDC), Giesecke+Devrient Secure Elements are a fantastic technology to protect private key material on user devices and ensure correct execution of payment protocols. This is why they are also instrumental for digital cash; in particular, when used offline. In this presentation I would give a brief overview of Secure Elements as a platform for digital cash and the current situation of digital cash across the world. Then, I would discuss security aspects that go beyond hardware, including safeguards for offline payments, public key infrastructure, and post-quantum cryptography.
