Massive Fire Breaks Out in Prayagraj's Maha Kumbh Area, No Casualties Reported | India Today Global

A day after the tragic stampede incident in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj, a massive fire broke out near Jhunsi Chhatnag Ghat and Nageshwar Ghat in Sector 22 of the Mahakumbh area, as reported by Hindustan on Thursday (January 30). At least 12 tents were burnt in the blaze, but fortunately, there were no casualties. According to Pramod Sharma, an official from the UP Fire Department, immediate action was taken to control the fire and prevent it from spreading. “We got information about a fire in 15 tents today. Immediate action was taken to bring the fire under control and douse the flames,” Sharma said. The Kumbh Mela Police also shared an update on social media, confirming the swift response by the Fire Service team, stating that the fire, which occurred around 2:00 pm, was brought under control promptly and there were no fatalities. This marks the third fire incident at the Maha Kumbh 2025. Previous incidents occurred on January 19 near a railway bridge in Sector 19 and on January 20 at a tent in Sector 5. The fire follows the devastating stampede on January 29, where at least 30 people were killed and 60 others injured at the Sangam area during the Mauni Amavasya, one of the most significant days of the Maha Kumbh.
