Como Bluff, near Medicine Bow, Wyoming, is an anticline with the Morrison Formation containing shales and sandstones deposited by rivers about 180 million years ago, during the time dinosaurs roamed the area. Some of the world's most well preserved and intact skeletons of dinosaurs were discovered at the Como Bluff quarries in the late 1880s. Palentologist Othniel Charles Marsh and Edward Drinker Cope were two of the leading paleontologists, and who were involved in a bitter fight for the quarries and academic sabotage.
