Adapted from Roald Dahl's classic children's book, with inspiration from the film and musical adaptations, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a fresh take on the classic story, performed by students for semester 1 mainstage. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Director's Notes Welcome, and thank you for joining us on this journey through the whimsical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Bringing Roald Dahl's classic tale to life has been a colorful, challenging, and deeply rewarding experience for everyone involved. The story, beloved by generations, is more than just a sugary fantasy; it's a reminder of the power of kindness, imagination, and resilience in the face of life's challenges. Our cast has embraced this story with incredible enthusiasm, exploring not only the magic of Wonka's factory but also the personalities, flaws, and strengths of each character. From the energetic Oompa Loompas to the larger-than-life personalities of the children in this story, our students have worked tirelessly to bring every detail to life. The hardest part of working with these students was getting them to not eat all the candy in one sitting!! Creating a world of chocolate rivers, nut rooms, and invisible elevators has been a true team effort. The cast and crew have shown remarkable imagination, commitment, and heart. The tech crew have tackled the challenge of transforming our stage into Wonka's wild, unpredictable factory, and I am incredibly proud of what they have accomplished. My Technical Theatre class stepped up and helped in so many ways to prepare for the show, and I am very grateful for their commitment to the performance. Thank you for supporting our program and our students. As you watch tonight, we hope you'll find a bit of your own childhood wonder rekindled. and perhaps, like Charlie, you'll leave the theatre seeing life just a little differently, remembering that true magic often lies in the simplest moments.
