Reflecting on the 18 lessons I learned in my 18th year, before turning the last number of being a teen. Here are my 18 life lessons at 18. 1. Be kind to your parents. Most likely, our parents also have an unhealthy inner child. It’s their first life as well. That’s why sometimes they don’t want us to experience the things they regret before getting married. So please, be kind. 2. Be kind to yourself. Always be kind to yourself, especially with your words. Stop speaking negatively to yourself. 3. About social media. Being quiet on social media and not joining trends is not bad at all. 4. Let people go. Letting people go in our life is okay. Sometimes we meet people just to accept that they already did their role in our life. 5. Doing things alone. Being by yourself and going outside alone is not scary now. 6. Don’t decide in a rush. Pressure can confuse your heart. When you rush decisions, you may choose what others want instead of what God wants for you. 7. About expectations. Don’t let yourself carry the pressure of people’s expectations, especially when you come from a good background. And also you don’t owe them an explanation. 8. Mistakes. It’s okay to make mistakes, even big ones. Because of those mistakes, you will meet God, repent to Him, and give yourself space for something new. From there, it becomes God’s plan. 9. It’s okay to be delayed. Sometimes you feel left out, like nothing is moving or happening. But God is working in your life and writing your story. We just need to be patient and trust Him. 10. Reading. Realising that Reading is not boring at all, especially when you read the Word of God. 11. Speak up. Speaking up about what you feel is not bad. Having the courage to express your feelings is okay. 12. About the right person. Instead of rushing to find the right person, be the right person. Focus on becoming a good person yourself. Growth attracts the right people. 13. Love fully. Loving genuinely means no regrets. Even if things don’t last, you can say you loved them with a pure heart. 14. Start journaling. Start journaling. Writing your thoughts helps clear your mind and understand your emotions. It’s also a way to talk to God. 15. Learn to say no. Saying no is a form of self-respect. People who truly care will understand your boundaries. 16. Choose your circle wisely. Choose the environment or circle that will help you grow. 17. Check yourself first. Before you advise others, check yourself first if you are already applying what you want to teach. 18. Your story and your heart. Everyone has a different journey. Losing something doesn’t mean failure—it can mean redirection. Some people won’t understand your heart, and that’s okay. Choose to be kind, choose peace, forgiveness, and love.
