Join me as I fly Qantas Business Class on the ultra-long-haul journey from New York to Auckland and onward to Sydney — a marathon flight on one of the world’s longest routes. The Business Class seat may be over 10 years old now, but it’s holding up surprisingly well. The bed was comfortable, and I actually managed to get some solid sleep on the long transpacific sector. Food quality was good, but the service was painfully slow — especially frustrating when other airlines are delivering equal or better meals in nearly half the time. Unfortunately, the inflight entertainment really lagged behind. The content selection felt limited, and having no Wi-Fi in 2026 on a flight this long is simply unacceptable. Add in challenging flight timings — a 4:55am arrival into Auckland after being woken up two hours earlier, plus the awkward two-hour time change on Australia’s east coast — and jet lag becomes very real, very fast.So how does Qantas’ flagship long-haul Business Class experience hold up today?
