Doritos are one of the greatest mass-produced snacks in the world. They are crunchy, salty, full of flavor, and so damn addicting. But did you know the now world-famous tortilla chips were once nothing more than Disneyland’s waste, tossed away in the garbage can? Starting from the bottom and climbing to the top, is something that many brands experience. But Doritos took it to a whole other level! While several people played an important role in the making of Doritos, no one had a bigger influence than Archibald Clark West. Born to Scottish immigrants in Indiana in 1914, Archibald had a tough childhood. After his father passed away, Arch’s mother was too poor to take care of him, so she made the heart-breaking decision to send him and his brother to an orphanage. In a true American dream story, the young man eventually managed to rise above his dirt-poor roots when he was offered a scholarship to Franklin College. He graduated with a degree in business in 1936 and went on to serve in the navy during World War II. Sources: Archibald Clark West http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.p...
