The January 6 Capitol attack stunned the nation, but Karen J. Greenberg argues in her new book that the pernicious effects of disinformation, xenophobia, and disdain for the law are rooted in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) International Security Program on Thursday, August 19 for a conversation on how the war on terror may have resulted in unseen effects on democratic norms, and how those democratic norms have evolved over time. Emily Harding, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow with the International Security Program at CSIS, will be joined by Karen Greenberg, the author of Subtle Tools, and Seth Jones, Harold Brown Chair and Director of the International Security Program at CSIS. Karen J. Greenberg is the Director of the Center on National Security at Fordham University School of Law as well as a permanent member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She is a noted expert on national security, terrorism, and civil liberties. Please submit your online questions via the button on the events page. We will incorporate your audience questions into the Q&A session. This event is made possible through general support to CSIS. --------------------------------------------- A nonpartisan institution, CSIS is the top national security think tank in the world.
