Communities in Jubaland and South West Somalia are strengthening how they prevent violence and respond when risks emerge. Women, young people and other marginalised groups are playing a stronger role in identifying and reporting concerns such as gender-based violence, land disputes and youth violence. Through community-based early warning and early response (EWER) champions, information reaches local authorities and police more quickly, enabling faster responses and better access to protection and justice. The video shares learning from ‘Somalia oo Nabad ah’, a project funded by the European Union and implemented by Saferworld in partnership with Somali Women’s Study Centre and Bay Women Association Network. It also reflects on what is needed to sustain and expand community-based early warning and early response systems.
