#america250 #usa250 #ushistory In this video, we are going back to Jamestown, Virginia, the first successful English settlement in what would become the modern day United States. I already shared a tour of Jamestown Settlement, a living museum re-creation showing what life was like in the early 1600s for the settlers, the native Powhatan tribes, and for the enslaved Africans who would be brought to the colony a few years later. While it was cool to see the re-creation, visitors can also see the actual site where the settlement began about a mile down the road at Colonial National Historic Park. This site is divided in two. Part of it is National Park land where you can see actual historical ruins from the Jamestown era. The other part of this site is an actual ongoing archaeological excavation site where the field team is searching for artifacts that further provide information about the history of Jamestown. Join us as we show you the actual grounds where Captain John Smith, Pocahontas and other historical figures once walked. Thanks for watching!
