The Boss of Aion 4.5 Illuminary Obelisk. Played/frapped by Mellodina of Siel (Songweaver). Please watch in max res full screen! The fight itself starts at about 2:00. Full updated guide here: http://1drv.ms/1ocaKtM I recorded this with max graphics settings in the game (but half the original 1080p resolution and 24FPS in FRAPS to keep filesize down...but somehow Youtube only displays it in 480p, sorry). Part 1 (Generators): • Aion 4.5 Illuminary Obelisk (Part 1 -... This is a timed DPS race. You have 6 minutes to kill the Test Weapon Dynatoum, and you will need heavy DPS as well as solid heals and taking. Similarly to Sauro's final boss, you must all enter the boss room and do not move (stay flashing) until you are all ready to aggro it. Have the cleric use Summer Circle for this fight, and use fine fireproof scrolls. It's not a bad idea to use candy and anti-shock scrolls, AP pots, etc. as well. The boss' attacks are as follows: Circular AOES: Looking at the floor, you will be able to see blue electricy stuff. If you are standing in it after a few seconds, you will get hurt for about half your HP. There are 2 kinds and the boss always does them back-to-back so you need to be fast to avoid them both. One kind is a simple circle below the boss. To avoid it, run OUT towards the edges of the area (don't worry, you can't fall off the edges). The other AOE is the opposite - the whole room will be blasted, and the safe spot is a small circle directly underneath the boss. Initial AOE: From the very start, the boss will AOE around him. This is easily avoided by either staying where you are (you are invincible while flashing after entering the room) or walking away from the electric blue stuff on the floor. After this AOE he may do another one, so beware. Red Mines: These mines will spawn periodically and walk around. You do not need to hit them. After a while, they will start to flash. This means they are about to explode and cause major damage, so, do not stand anywhere near them then they flash - especially for the larger mines. Direct Strike: The boss will randomly target somebody and hit them hard. This usually does not kill you, however. Salvo: This is a deadly attack. The boss will put someone (normally the tank) in an aetherhold that you cannot remove. After a few seconds he will hit that person with a missile salvo that will do heavy damage and normally kill clothies and leathers. Make sure the person in the aetherhold is on full HP to try to survive it. If you have a temp, now is the time to bodyguard. Pepper the Area: This attack only happens on Infernal. The boss does an AOE attack that silences. Watch out and dispel it. Generators: Not an attack, but part of the boss sequence. At around 25-30% HP, 4 generators will spawn. If they are not killed before 20 seconds, they will heal the boss for about 5%-10% of his HP. These generators therefore must be killed ASAP. They go down very fast, so kill them and re-target the boss. This is an excellent time for clerics to use Word of Destruction. If you are slow on DPS, 4 more generators will spawn some time after you have removed the first 4. After the generators are down it's time to pop all you have and DPS the boss to death. The boss will drop an eternal/mythic armour or weapon box, plus a chance of eternal/mythic wings and tempering solution. In Infernal, you can get all these rewards, plus you can also get cruxes and purified wings or headgear. First timers doing the quest will also be able to get a composite manastone pouch. That's all! Good luck on your drops and run. FOR A FULL, UPDATED WRITTEN GUIDE including INFERNAL mode, please check out http://1drv.ms/1ocaKtM. This guide includes some newer tactics that I now use to run IO even more efficiently (including changing the order to South, North, East then West, and using a triple charge for the final generator with 8-10 balls). But, this video will be able to help you as a basic guide to get you started :) EDIT - I've noticed a few websites using my written guide and not crediting me for it... I don't mind if people link to these videos or the written guide but I ask that you please credit Mellodina of Siel (or my name David White). Thanks!
