Heading back to the Homeland after 20+ years!

It has been over 20 years since I last set foot in Laos — a trip I once shared with my late father. For most of my life, I’ve dreamed of creating a cookbook: one that preserves our family’s traditional Lao recipes, reflects my experience growing up Lao-American, and tells the story of cooking and survival as a refugee in America. It is also a cookbook with recipes I have created throughout my life mixing western and eastern cultures. In October, I returned to Laos for the first time, beginning in Vientiane. This video captures that long-awaited journey — the place, the memories, and the moment the dream finally felt real. This is just the beginning.
