With DOOM 2016, id Software made a very conscious decision – and rightly so – to not focus on the story too much. They figured that that's not why people play DOOM, that they do so for the shooting, for the action, for the ripping and tearing of demons to pieces. In that area, they obviously excelled- but surprisingly, they excelled with the story as well.Well, maybe "excelled" is the wrong word to use, given how much of a backseat the immediate narrative took in the game, but there were some really good backstories and lore to dive into. One of the most interesting things that lore described was the ancient order of elite warriors known as the Night Sentinels, and here, that's who we'll be looking at, as we count down the days to DOOM Eternal's launch.So who exactly were the Night Sentinels? To answer that question, we need to go back in time, all the way back to the origins of the race known as Argenta, and world known as Argent D'Nur.
