The project has gone through many phases and styles before falling into their heavy shoegaze style where they look and sound like a real powerhouse. Drawing influence from modern bands like Julie and Deftones while carrying some punk undertones gives Deer their signature sound that has been turning heads in the Orlando Scene since they began playing shows in 2025. Guitarist and main songwriter Max started the band with the bassist and lead singer Aidan. These boys are truly DIY, making it work with a $200 drum kit off craigslist and no practice space outside of their bedrooms at school. I watched them start with My Bloody Valentine covers and slowly morph into exceptional songwriters. The tones that come out of Maxes' guitar are nothing short of fascinating which we see in this session. Aidan's powerful voice fits epically with the weight of these songs. The drummer Alec and 2nd guitarist Alex are total badasses. Wonderful additions to the band, the four of them work like a real unit.
