Kailash, also called Gang Rinpoche, is the sacred mountain of the four major religions of Buddhism, Bön, Hinduism and Jainism. Kailash is located in Western Tibet, near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal, and close to the source of the four major rivers of the Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej and Ganges. Saga Dawa Festival at mount Kailash is one of the most important religious festivals celebrated in Tibet and is held every year on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month of the Tibetan calendar. The festival is celebrated in honor of Sakyamuni's enlightenment. This auspicious day coincides with three important events in Buddha's life. It was all on the 15th of the fourth month when the Lord Buddha Sakyamuni were born, achieved enlightenment and passed away. Saga Dawa is celebrated with various events throughout Tibet for a month-long. The most prominent parts of them are kora, flagpole erection and eight precepts practice. Kailash Kora is a 52 kilometers long pilgrimage route and usually takes 2 to 3 days to hike. One will walk along the river valleys of the Lha-chu and the Lham-chu, past three Buddhist monasteries and climb up and over the Dölma La Pass (5648 m). Kailash Kora is therefore a high altitude hike. #Kailash #Kora #SagaDawa 00:17 Saga Dawa Festival at Mount Kailash 01:07 Kailash Kora Music: Wayfarer by Scott Buckley | www.scottbuckley.com.au / scottbuckley • 'Wayfarer' [Inspirational Epic Orchestral ...
