Kualoa Ranch is a 4,000 acre private nature reserve and a popular tourist attraction located in within the town of Kaneohe in Oahu, Hawaii. The oceanside ranch is 24 miles west of Honolulu and consists of three valleys - Ka'a'awa Valley, Kuaola Valley, and Hakipu'u Valley, and has been a popular location for Hollywood movie films and television shows. Originally bought by an American doctor for $1300 in 1850, the Kualoa Ranch's first structures was a sugar mill for its sugarcane plantation that lasted 20 years. In 1941, the land was occupied by the United States military during WWII as the site became a military airfield. The property was then returned to the owners after the war ended. In 1974, the ranch was added to the National Register of Historic Places as the Kualoa Ahupua'a Historical District. Today, the ranch has become a popular tourist destination outside of Honolulu, with numerous tours of its valleys, historical significances, and surrounding areas. Over 80 popular movies and television shows have been filmed at Kuaola Ranch over the years such as Jurassic Park, Jurrasic World, 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, the Jumanji movie series, Pearl Harbor, and Paradise.
