Let’s focus on the latter. Pick a situation in which you feel not at ease - yes, you feel dis-ease. You may be using words like: "I have a problem, and I don’t know how to fix it. Something disturbs me deeply. This goes on for long already. I have no peace of mind." What matters is: Your emotional discomfort is an active part of the equation, without being aware when this all started. So, what happens beneath the surface? Perhaps you feel restless or devastation? You feel you are totally out of alignment. You are a shadow of who you used to be. You feel mentally and emotionally exhausted. You feel there’s no way to steer it. You are far from feeling any type of comfort in this situation. There’s clearly an imbalance. When you are not in it, then you are definitely overthinking everything about it.The situation forces you to be incongruent with how you long to show up. See, several times my body was showing me over longer periods that a particular situation was not healthy anymore. Why? I was not aware how to pick up or read the signs to start listening to my body. I was tense and impatient. I felt resentment, shame and blame. I didn’t even know my body was communicating to me in a language that I could learn from or that I neede to learn. Then, I was unaware my body continuously speaks to me and shares her wisdom with everything I do. I was so focused on achieving a solution with my mind. I was in my head, almost always. Was I forcing a solution? Was I open or receptive to all the options on the table? Were there solutions I didn’t want to hear about? Yes to all of that. Some options I consciously left out. I was biased. Some things I didn’t want as a solution, so I labelled those as a no-go. I was forcing myself to stay in a job. I had worked so hard for it. It was familiar. I knew how to survive in it. I didn’t see that the cost for my body was higher than the money I was earning. I was depleting myself of my own resources. All that I thought was: I am strong. I am resilient. I can deal well with stress. I always find a solution. Let me move on to a new position, then things will get better. Honestly, I thought I knew myself very well. The restriction in my mind set me up for a prolonging of what was unhealthy for me. Sure, how could I know this in the first place? Everyone around me was hustling, grinding, and surviving as well. The same body awareness happened right before deciding to divorce. Previously, when married, my idea was: divorce is not an option. Until I realized I was dismissing my own body wisdom. I was dismissing all the signs to listen to the discomfort, the restriction, the force, the clinging, the cry for a solution. A solution did not show up, because I was in pure refusal to go there where I was most afraid to look. Do you perhaps recognize this for yourself?
