Teknonymy among the Cocos Malays: Personhood, Parenthood, and Identity

About 10 years ago, the Imannia's family kindly took the time to explain to us how Cocos Malay naming works. So a big terima kasih to Imannia's family for being so gracious and helpful in teaching us about this! I initially presented this in a panel organized by Bree Blakemen and Francis Morphy at the AAS conference in 2022. Then the Deakin University's Anthropology Department series gave me the opportunity to speak. This version was presented to my colleagues in La Trobe's Social Inquiry Seminar Series, 2023.
