It was hot rolls and coffee before setting off up onto the Union canal then it was along a stretch of the Canal to Falkirk High rail station carpark then short walk downhill to the South Lodge entrance into Callendar park which has some nice trails around the park .. We made our way down to the small Picturesque loch in the park before heading to Callendar house for a visit (free Entry) given the house and grounds date back some 6oo years there is a lot to see in it and information on the history of the area and some excellent displays We visited the tearoom for cuppa and scones. Before setting off again for the Helix and then onwards to The Kelpies\, We had to pass through a very industrial area to get to the Helix ( the best way to get there is through the Railway underpass which you have to look for. then it was along by Falkirk football stadium then past the Helix and across the Wetlands boardwalk then along the side of the Queen Elizabeth II canal and we had arrived at the Kelpies we had a brief walk around the Kelpies then headed for the Forth and Clyde canal following it to Lock sixteen and the Union Inn where we had a meal before heading the last mile and a half back to the Falkirk Wheel the end of our walk.
