Quebec Mega Trail 100 Miles Ultra Marathon is a challenging race in Quebec, Canada - my home country. As we say, East Coast = Beast Coast. The trails are extremely rugged with roots, rocks and mud. Adding rain in the mix made for a tough battle with many falls. If you feel my content as helped you along in your journey, I'd greatly appreciate your support. Check out this link https://linktr.ee/runningwithsimon Quebec Mega Trail 100 miles ultra marathon - also known as QMT100 - is a point-to-point race in Charlevoix. Starting in Baie-Saint-Paul, we made our way through the sentier des caps all the way to Mont Saint-Anne. There, we go up and down the mountain. With approximately 22,000 feet of elevation gain, you need strong legs! But this is barely brushing what makes this ultra marathon particularly challenging: the rugged trail. As most trails on the East Coast Beast Coast - they are narrow and rugged. Roots and rocks everywhere to trip you. The trails are often overgrown so you can't always see where you step. Moreover, as is expected for summer in Quebec, we had some rain. The trails in this region don't hold water well - it turned into a mud pit, making roots and rocks even more slippery. Oh and when it finally stopped raining, the mosquitoes were happy to greet us! But despite all this - Quebec Mega Trail is an epic adventure. Racing home for me was particularly special. I was in need of some time with my family and friends. Connecting with the quebec trail running community was also amazing. Just like for Bryce Canyon 100 miles and Bighorn 100 Miles, I was testing some shoes. My primary shoes were Salmon Speedcross 5 (they did not provide). Perfect for muddy and technical trails. But river crossing left my feet soaked, so I transitioned to my Joe Nimble - Trail Addict Pro-R - for the last 30ish miles #flyabovereason #toefreedom #runabovereason @joenimble. I was also testing headlamp from Fenix HM65R-T - great headlamp - 1 battery easily lasted for the 2 nights. Stay tuned for reviews about all those! Next race is Tahoe Rim Trail 100 miles on July 20! As always - Thanks for watching and remember - Work Hard! Believe in yourself! Push your limits!
