🌼 Significance of the Ingredients Gram Dal (Chana Dal ) – Represents strength and nourishment. Jaggery (Vellam / Gud) – Symbolizes sweetness in life and positive energy. Ghee – Signifies purity and is considered sacred in Hindu rituals. These three simple ingredients together create a wholesome offering filled with devotion. 🪔 Ingredients 1 cup gram dal roasted completely to make smooth powder 1 cup powdered jaggery (adjust sweetness as needed) 1/4th cup warm ghee Pinch of Cardamom powder for fragrance 🥣 Preparation Method Powder the Gram Dal Dry grind roasted gram dal into a fine powder. Prepare Jaggery Powder the jaggery finely. (If impurities are present, melt with little water, strain, and dry before using.) Mix Together Combine gram dal powder and jaggery powder in a bowl. Add cardamom if using. Add Warm Ghee Slowly pour warm ghee and mix well. Shape into Laddus While the mixture is warm, take small portions and shape into round balls. Allow them to cool and firm up. 🌙 Offering During Shivaratri On Maha Shivaratri, devotees perform abhishekam, chant “Om Namah Shivaya,” and offer this laddu as naivedyam to Lord Shiva. After prayers, it is distributed as prasadam to family and friends. This laddu keeps well for several days and is often prepared in advance for temple visits or night-long bhajans. If you'd like, I can also share a no-grind quick version or a temple-style soft laddu variation 😊
