Guild Wars 2 introduced the Living World / Living Story concept to help the world of Tyria feel alive, growing, expanding, etc. Now in their third "season" (read: attempt) at getting this right, ArenaNet has dialed in a formula that we've seen repeated in five episodes and, presumably, their sixth. But does this formula optimize for fun? In this video, I lay out some of my complaints about the way LS3 plays. Primarily that the time spent watching characters talk, walk, etc. is too long compared to the time spent in combat. The GW2 story isn't strong enough that it can leave behind core gaming functionality in favor of a "television show" style passive experience. As always, tell me what you think in the comments.
